Academics @ Work

In the summer of 2017 Dide and I – Noortje – visited Rome for the Conference of Organizational Symbolism (SCOS). In the blazing Rome summer heat, we presented some of our research poetry and listened to many interesting talks by colleagues who presented their own research. After the conference the SCOS chair – Thomas Lennerfors – asked if I could express my conference experiences in poetry. The poems below are thus not exactly research poetry, but they do attempt to capture an important element of academic work: conference visits. They are also my first officially commissioned poems 🙂

The two poems are called Fleshy encounters and Feeling fluid

  2. Thank you for sharing these beautiful poems! I was one of the organisers of SCOS Roma but I was at home with my newborn daughter during the conference. I am glad that Thomas asked you to express your experience through poetry.
